Spring Has Sprung...Or Not

Saturday was 80-some degrees.  Spring!  Of course I was stuck in the windowless pharmacy.  But I was way excited for my day off Sunday!  I would get to enjoy the spring weather in my new car while I ran errands around town - perfect day off!
This is what happened Sunday.  My patio furniture made it through the entire winter without blowing onto the lawn.

I was at the mall looking for a new pair of work pants.  I went into Macy's while it was sprinkling rain.  I came out of Macy's to monstrous snow flakes - bazillions of them! - blowing sideways.  My car was covered in snow and ice.

Stupid Colorado.

The only good thing is that the snow/rain/ice helped a little with that big ol' fire in the foothills.

I bought William new boots for the wedding in Utah.  He has to wear black cowboy boots, so of course he waited until the last minute to ask me to go find some for him.

He must like them; I found these pictures on my camera...
He mentioned he wants to see if they can do something about the brown soles and trim.  Beggars can't be choosers, buddy.

---------------------------

I've never been a huge sweets fan.  I don't like dessert much, unless it's an Island Brownie, angel food cake, or homemade ice cream.  I don't crave candy too much either.  I'll eat it, because it's usually the only edible stuff we have in the pharmacy, and when I'm hungry I'm usually the only pharmacist on duty, so I can't leave to get real food.

That said, there are two kinds of candy I will always eat if I have it.  Original Sprees and Freckled Egg Runts.

Back in my cashier days at Walmart, I would always wander the candy aisle at Easter, looking for my Freckled Egg Runts.  Sometimes they were in a bag, sometimes they were in a plastic egg, sometimes they didn't have them at all.

The past few years, I've wandered the Easter aisle, looking for my Runts.  No Runts.  Not the fruit shaped runts...it has to be the freckled egg runts.  I haven't been able to find them for the longest time!  Will and I checked out a few Walmarts this year...no luck.

Until Sunday...
Our little local grocery store had them!  They had seven bags.  And I took them all.

I called Will on my way home to tell him about my awesome find!  Except I told him I bought eight bags, so that when he found out I really only bought seven maybe he would think I was less crazy?

I have been eating lots of freckled eggs the past two days.  I've also had a headache, which I always get when I eat candy, but it's totally worth it.  I'm thinking of adding them into my everyday cooking.  Maybe some freckled egg omlettes for breakfast?  A freckled egg panini for supper?  Taco salad with avocados and freckled eggs?

I love those little crunchy morsels of Easter happiness.
