Old School

Since 1997 I have lived in two houses, one cabin, one apartment, two dorm rooms, and multiple one-month homes during rotations.  Throughout all those relocations I have managed to keep a couple very small, very wonderful little items with me.

Savage Garden and NOW.

Savage Garden was the very first cd I ever bought.  I still remember Trista letting me borrow her disc-man in junior high, and I listened to Savage Garden for two days straight.  Then I got my own disc-man and bought my own copy of the Savage Garden cd.  That was in 1997.

NOW That's What I Call Music.  You can go to Walmart or Target today and see a couple different NOW cds...NOW 43...NOW 985.  But I'm talking about the original NOW cd.  The first one ever.  Ashley and I used to rock out to that Cd on our little road trips to Sioux City.  I bought that cd in 1998 (we still listened to it all through high school).

William and I are preparing for an upcoming road trip to Utah by downloading a ton of songs from the glory days of high school to fill up the iPod.  We will be the weird couple driving down the interstates of Wyoming, head banging and singing our hearts out.  That's how we roll.  I decided to go through my pile of cds to find some of the good stuff to put on the iPod.  I found old Britney, Avril Lavigne, P!nk, Natalie Imbruglia, and of course, Savage Garden and NOW.

I lose things everyday.  I set them down somewhere and two seconds later, have no idea what I did with them. I have a huge fear of setting my pharmacy keys down and forgetting where I put them.  Sometimes I lose my car keys.  Sometimes I lose my phone.

I have zero idea how I have not lost these two wonderful cds in the past 13 years.  It's an audio entertainment miracle.
