Sleep Tight

William might develop some kind of sleeping syndrome, if I have anything to do with it.

This is what happens when he tries to take a nap...
 Then he woke up...
...and was not really too excited to see my macro lens, hood and all, 3 inches from his eyeball...and me hovering over him, trying to balance the camera on the tripod with as little movement as possible.

The things he puts up with.

Eyeball macro is so hard! The tiniest movement brings the iris out of focus.  In the picture below, the depth of field is so small that the iris is out of focus, but the reflection in the eyeball is in focus.  I didn't even know that was possible??

More eyeball...and some eyelash.  Good thing Will doesn't have a stye in his eye.  That would be gross.

Thar be the focus I was searchin' for!  Argggh!
Hmmm...not sure where the pirate speak came from.

Fun fact: September 19th is "Talk Like A Pirate Day".  Like, officially.  Someone actually made that a day.  I found out from the crazy tux shop man the day before our wedding...which was September 19th. He smoked a little too much pot in the 60's, and I don't think he ever quit that little past time, so I thought he was blowing smoke (hah!)...but then I saw it on TV!

Will wanted to wear an eye patch during our wedding, in honor of the pirate holiday, but I told him he'd be walking the plank if he dared show his face with an eye patch.

Speaking of smoking something...?

----------------------

Speaking of smoking...we made chicken salad today.  I gave William the simple job of roasting the almonds.  As he put them in the oven under the broiler, I said "Stay there and watch them, they roast fast".  Then I continued with my chopping and mixing and such.  A few minutes later I smelled burning. The almonds.  William had wandered off somewhere in the house and forgotten about them (in 3 minutes??)...so he had to wander into town to get more almonds.

Since he did such a great job of burning the almonds at lunch, he got to roast the red pepper for our red pepper chicken panini we had for supper.  He did a great job of burning it to a crisp, just the way it needed to be.  What a good kitchen helper :)
