Lenz Luck

Bah.

WillB texted me yesterday in the middle of an already craptastic day at work: "iPad 2 came out today".

Thanks a lot.

You might remember my super turbo charged excitement about my brand new iPad...exactly two weeks ago.  Fourteen days.

I've been using it non-stop.  Haven't left my house without my new iPad in my purse.  I bring it to work.  I bring it shopping.  I brought it to my hair appointment and played Angry Birds for 2 hours!  I don't have a day planner anymore; I have my iPad.

But now my iPad is old.

Did you know that when Apple releases the new version of something, it's usually the same price as the first version, but better?  Yeah.  So had I waited 2 weeks, I could have spent the EXACT same amount of money and bought the brand new iPad 2.

Best Buy only honors returns of iPads 14 days after the date of purchase, which I realized at exactly 9:06pm on the 14th day following the purchase of my iPad.  Best Buy closed at 9pm.

This is a perfect demonstration of the Lenz Luck.  Thanks a lot, Dad.

As I drove my unhappy self to Best Buy this morning before work, I felt sick to my stomach.  Why do I have to be so impulsive when making big purchases?  Why doesn't my wallet squeak like a rusty-hinged door when I pry it open, the way Willm's does?  Is this God's way of telling me to stop spending money?? I was hoping that some kind-hearted Best Buy employee would take pity on me and refund my purchase, so that I might be able to return next Friday to buy the way cooler iPad 2, but deep down I knew that it wasn't going to happen...

HOWEVER, it seems that after the universe dealt me the Lenz Luck cards, it realized "Oh yeah, she may be a Lenz at heart, but she's got a different name on her driver's license now...crap!"

The wonderful little guy at the customer service desk refunded my money with out any trouble!  Not a word about today being day 15.  Not a word about a restocking fee.

I can not wait until next Friday!  I will be one of those psychos waiting in line at Best Buy to get my new iPad!

I'll bring my own wallet...Willm's is too hard to get open.
