New Project!!

William and I have decided on a new project.

We're going to (try to) create a similar mantle and possibly fireplace surround.  I'm incredibly confident that we'll be able to figure out how to adjust the mantle to work on our fireplace.

It looks easy enough - a 12 foot 1x12 for the front, a couple of shorter 1x12s for the sides, and a few 1x12s for the top! We could probably even make it so that it would just lay on the bottom of the alcove like a little mantle blanket - wouldn't even have to nail it down!  That would be awesome.

Getting rid of our currently ugly fireplace surround would be equally awesome...

...and this surround would be saawheeet!  Except our fireplace actually works, so I'm not sure how safe it would be? Might burn down the house.  Proooobably wouldn't save ourselves money if we had to replace the entire house.

Maybe I'll start with the mantle and see how that goes.
